London-based artist Kimathi Donkor’s work explores the interplay between art, people, places and power. His practice embraces traditions of portraiture and history painting, and also includes installations, video, music, photography, collaborative and mixed-media work.

Since graduating from Goldsmiths College with a BA Hons in Fine Art and a PGCE, Kimathi has exhibited in solo and group shows across the UK. He has led workshops, symposiums and projects with a wide range of institutions including many schools, the University of the Arts, London, the National Maritime Museum and Tate Britain.

In 2009, he received a Masters Preparation Full Award from the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) for his MA Fine Art research project, 'Four Figures: Queens of the Undead'. He will begin his doctoral studies with TrAIN at Chelsea College of Art in the autumn of 2010.
